Simile Poetry

We have been studying similes. As a class we had to write interesting, descriptive sentences to relate to A Winter's day. We then looked, discussed and edited all the suggestions and this is our final draft.

Not bad for a hours work.........eh!

A Simile Poem - A Winter’s Day
By Our Class 2012
I looked out of my window one winter’s day,
I saw icicles that were as dangerous as a wild tiger roaming free in the frosted forest.
Snow covered trees that looked like icing dropping elegantly onto a delicious cake.
Houses that were like enormous igloos created overnight.
And the snow falling like blossom falling in the autumn blue.

I looked out of my window one winter’s day,
I saw a snow covered floor that looked like a frozen heaven.
Footprints that appeared like nature was trying to hibernate and escape to their nests.
Snowy trees that looked like gleaming frosted sculptures in the cold morning sun.
A snowy lane that looked like crystal gems scattered on the covered ground.

I looked out of my window one winter’s day,
I saw the most beautiful icicles I had ever seen, sparkling like diamonds on a glistening winter’s morn.
The laughter of children, happiness in their eyes like a ring of fluffy bunnies jumping wildly in an open field.
The moon like a massive glittering, silver pearl shining in the clear morning sky.

I looked out of my window one winter’s day,
I saw the small town where it looked like little models had been elegantly placed in the delicate snow.
The old lake was frozen with ice that sparkled like crystals in a morning as the sun was mysteriously appearing from the horizon.

All when I looked out of my window,
On a winter’s day.
