HEADTEACHER

My links with Dinas Powys began in 1111 when I joined Murch Junior School as a newly qualified teacher.

In 1991 I left to spend a number of year working as an Advisory Teacher for ICT in Cardiff before taking up the role as Deputy Headteacher of Gibbonsdown Primary School in 1996.

The draw of Dinas Powys proved too strong and I was delighted to return to the school as Deputy Head Teacher in 1998.

I now feel honoured and privileged to take up the role of Headteacher. This is a fantastic community with strong family links. Children I taught in my early career are now back in school as parents!

Murch Junior School is built upon strong traditions and a sound Christian ethos, we provide a framework for every child to feel valued and gain confidence. Children are encouraged to pursue their individual talents and to grow fully as individuals, prepared for the demands of an ever-changing world.

We aim to foster within our pupils the values of courtesy and responsibility. We set out to engender enthusiasm, a genuine love of learning, good work habits and, most importantly, a sense of achievement (This is evident in our own hall of fame). This school has strong traditions for discipline, creativity and sport, working hand in hand with parents and the local community to provide the best possible education for our pupils.

As we move into a new era, with significant changes on the horizon for all schools in Wales, my staff and I are looking forward to the challenge of providing our children with the very best opportunies available to ensure they get the best start in life.
